Charlotte Quandt

Charlotte Quandt, General Manager

I'm a senior here at Eckerd. I have been involved with the radio station for two years. I love music and giving local bands a place to play. When I started working with the station I was a freshman and the station was falling down. The antenna was broken and nothing was going on. Soon the antenna was fixed and it was time to get back on. I started out as the Music Director and then became General Manager. I have big plans for station including a trip to New York City for a week at the College Music Journal Conference, having 20 local bands play at Eckerd all over campus, bringing the station to everyone on campus and setting up a Tampa Bay wide college radio forum. Not only am I the General Manager, but I'm also a student. My major is History and my minor is theatre. I am parliamentarian of the Afro-American society and a work scholar in Student Affairs. Help me make my last year here at Eckerd my finest and the radio station's finest.

Lem Thornton, Assistant General Manager

I'm in my third year at Eckerd and have been involved with a lot of the different ECOS organizations over the past couple of years. I worked a little bit on the radio in my freshman and my sophomore years and now I'm getting a greater hands on experience. Other positions I've held within ECOS was News Editor and Co-Editor in Chief of The Triton, the student newspaper of Eckerd College, as well as assistant to the Vice President, and now I'm president of the Theatre Troupe on campus. In case it wasn't too noticeable with the Theatre troupe reference I'm a theatre major -- actually a double major, I'm also a Sociology major and trying to save the world! I am also an RA on campus or more correctly: I'm an ARC over Kappa and Zeta complexes this year. I've loved helping to bring quality fun to the Eckerd campus and getting students involved so I am looking forward, with much excitement, to this upcoming year and working for the WECX!

Jake Woerner, Music Director

Jake Woerner is the WECX Music Director, and with good reason!  He is in fact made of microscopic chunks of pure sound, and he subsists on tweeters.  Through his tireless efforts, WECX continues to accumulate countless demo CDs, many of which will be removed from their cases and played.  He plans on making a couch out of discarded demos by his senior year.  Finally, his career as a world-famous rapper was cut short due to a debilitating tongue injury.  Don't mention it to him, it's a sore subject.

Drake Naples, Assistant Music Director

I’m a freshman here at Eckerd College. I was born and raised in a middle-sized town in New Hampshire known as Hanover. Although this is my first time involved with a radio station, it is not my first time involved with music. Music has always been a strong passion of mine, and I enjoy all the different aspects of it. I was involved in various music groups throughout high school, one of them including a student run a cappella group. Human interaction and exciting events are infatuations of mine. I look forward to bringing fresh and catching ideas to a growing and exciting radio station. I am thrilled to be a part of something that has the potential to really enhance the student life at Eckerd College. Other interests in my life include friends, studies, and sports. I am currently pursuing a degree in communications with which I will hopefully use in sports related fields. Overall, I am a very laid back easygoing person, with motivation. I love the sunshine and the beach, hence my move from New Hampshire to the beautiful sunshine state of Florida.

Kelly Finnegan (a.k.a. DJ Kid), Head DJ

This is DJ Kid, known by most as Kelly. Im a sophomore Environmental Studies/ Philosophy major and am entirely unsure as to where that may take me. Most times you'll find me over around Kappa or wandering campus with my dog, Shifty. Music (expecially live music) is a huge part of my life and I try to catch about as many shows as possible. I hail from like canada-area, Vermont and for that reason will often be mixing plenty of Phish and jam bands in with the array of underground hip hop I bring to WECX every friday night.
